The smaller (8 x 10) bedroom in a true two-bedroom Chelsea apartment is available for move-in on September 1st. We managed to land this space without a broker or fee, and are often told what a miraculous deal we received relative to the market. You'll occupy the smaller of the two bedrooms, but it's comfortable for living. My current roommate fits a twin bed, dresser and (extremely small) desk in without a problem. For New York and this price, the common area is very nice: large living room with a completely separate and reasonable kitchen. The bathroom is admittedly on the small side, but it serves its function. Did I mention that you'll be living on 15th street between 7th and 8th Ave.? You're steps away from the village, the L/ACE/123, Path, Union Square, NYU, etc. The building is very nice, and we're on the third floor, so the fact that there isn't an elevator really is no problem. Our apartment was renovated a year ago (before we moved in), so it still feels relatively new. Also, unlimited rooftop access that's great for a couple of beers on the weekend (it's not a tall building, so the view isn't exactly scenic, but it's better than nothing). I'm negotiating with the landlord to fix up the bathroom, so we'll see what comes of that. No doorman, but you're living in literally the safest area in the city, and there's two sets of front doors that require separate keys. I don't think I've ever been the least bit concerned regarding safety.

Smoking is absolutely prohibited. I am fine with pets if you're willing to care for them (I'm not home regularly enough to be of much use). Your room will not be furnished in advance.

Utilities/Cable/Internet are normally about $100 per person monthly (higher in the summer). That is not included in the $1350 figure.

Also, I do want to be clear: Your bedroom is SMALL. The 8 x 10 figure includes a closet that juts into the bedroom. The value in this apartment is in the common area, location and price relative to the market.

I am a straight male and 22 year-old NYU graduate who is on leave from grad school (also NYU) to work on my novel. During the day I work at a hedge fund to pay the bills. I'm extremely easy-going, and am additionally an amateur musician and a general music enthusiast. I'm also very interested in sports and politics. I'm probably the last person in the world under 50 years-old who has the Times delivered daily.

My roommate, also a recent grad, has decided to move home. Originally, my girlfriend was going to move in, but given that she is no longer my girlfriend, that plan is more or less defunct. :)

Preferably you are at least in your early 20's, but one candidate to move in is 31, so all ages will be considered. Male/female, straight/gay ok. My only real requests are for you to be somewhat responsible (junior/senior in college is fine if you're mature), relatively clean (I'm by no means a neat-freak, but people who clean up after themselves will definitely have a leg up), and drama-free. I certainly like to enjoy myself, but if you're looking to host a party here every weekend, this probably isn't the right fit. Don't get me wrong: hosting people is fine and I'll even have the occasional party, but I'm definitely more liable to go out somewhere and treat the apartment as a relaxed environment.

I'm looking for a 1-year commitment. First Month + Security Deposit required up front: $2700.
